The Magpie lists closely related Carlo Colucci CC700 quartz watches alongside the structurally different PROTO 01 Blue. CC700 variants mainly change appearance

CC700-4 combines a white steel case, white dial and white silicone strap. CC700-2 uses a silver steel case with black dial and black strap. Because the reviewed movement, size and water-resistance specifications match, the practical choice between these two is colour rather than function.

The VD54 movement specification should be checked against the current dial layout and manual. Strap width and replacement compatibility are not established by case diameter alone.

PROTO 01 Blue changes materials and movement

PROTO 01 Blue has a blue synthetic/plastic case and strap, with dimensions listed as 38 × 45 mm. Its Seiko VJ21 is a three-hand quartz movement and the case is rated to 3 ATM. That makes it visually and materially different from the steel CC700 models, while its lower pressure rating warrants more conservative water exposure.

ATM figures are laboratory pressure ratings, not depth permissions. Ageing seals, crown operation and temperature changes affect resistance. Follow the maker's usage wording and have seals checked after battery service.

Decide by dimensions, material and dial function

Choose CC700-4 for the all-white steel/silicone treatment or CC700-2 for a silver-and-black version with the same captured core specifications. Choose PROTO 01 Blue for its blue synthetic construction and simpler three-hand movement, accepting the lower 3 ATM rating.

Measure an existing comfortable watch across the case and lug-to-lug direction; a 38 × 45 mm rectangular footprint can wear differently from a 41 mm round case. Confirm warranty, battery service and strap availability. No current price claim is included.
