Vinnic Germany: CR123, 9V and AAA Batteries by Device
Vinnic's CR123 lithium cell, 9V Longlife alkaline battery and AAA Longlife alkaline four-pack have different shapes, voltages and intended devices. They are not substitutes, even when a device category such as a sensor or torch appears to accept more than one battery across different models.
CR123 is a compact 3 V lithium format
The Vinnic CR123 listing identifies a single 3 V lithium cylindrical cell for equipment such as cameras and high-drain torches. CR123 dimensions and terminal layout are specific. It should not be confused with rechargeable cells carrying similar names, nor with two smaller cells stacked to approximate voltage.
Lithium chemistry can provide useful shelf life and output for intermittent equipment, but the device manual must explicitly allow CR123. Do not attempt to recharge this primary cell. Store spares so loose terminals cannot contact metal objects, and replace cells according to the equipment maker's instructions.
The 9V Longlife is for the familiar rectangular connector
Vinnic describes its 9V Longlife alkaline product for smoke alarms, multimeters and guitar tuners. The product title captured from the German store inconsistently includes “1.5V”, while the format and description say 9V. That conflict is a reason to verify the package label and product code before use rather than repeat the inconsistent voltage as fact.
A smoke alarm's approved battery type takes priority over broad marketing examples. Some alarms require a specific alkaline or lithium 9V battery; sealed ten-year alarms are not designed for user replacement. Test an alarm after fitting a permitted battery and dispose of the removed cell correctly.
The two snap terminals on a 9V battery can short against coins or other batteries. Keep the protective packaging on spares and cover terminals for disposal as local guidance requires.
AAA Longlife is a four-pack of 1.5 V alkaline cells
The AAA Longlife listing is a four-pack of 1.5 V alkaline cells for items such as remote controls, toys, torches and portable electronics. AAA describes the physical size, not only voltage. An AA cell is also nominally 1.5 V but is larger and cannot replace it.
When a device uses several AAA cells, replace the set together with matching new batteries. Mixing old and new cells or different chemistries can lead to leakage and uneven discharge. Observe polarity markings and remove batteries from equipment stored for long periods.
Match all four identifiers
A safe choice matches format, nominal voltage, chemistry and whether the device calls for a primary or rechargeable battery. “Lithium” does not automatically mean rechargeable, and equal voltage does not imply equal size or permitted discharge behaviour.
For cameras or torches explicitly specifying CR123, use the 3 V CR123 product. For compatible rectangular-battery equipment, inspect the exact 9V Longlife package because of the title inconsistency. For ordinary AAA compartments, the four-pack provides matched 1.5 V alkaline cells.
Runtime cannot be inferred from format alone. Device load, storage age, temperature and usage pattern all matter. No current prices or shelf-life dates are quoted; check the delivered date code and packaging condition.
