DRBO Green Energy: SunEnergyXT 20kWh and 30kWh Systems Compared
DRBO's SunEnergyXT sets reach similar headline capacities through different topologies. AC Core Duo combines two main units and two B500 expansion batteries for 20,096Wh nominal. AC Core Trio uses three mains and three B500 units for 30,144Wh. AC CORE + 5 × B500 reaches the same 30,144Wh class around one main unit and five expansions, with 2,400 W stated output.
Capacity and power are separate
The Duo and Trio distribute storage across two or three main systems. The one-core 30kWh set concentrates five expansions behind one main unit. DRBO explicitly notes that B500 modules increase capacity, not output. A 30kWh label therefore does not establish how many high-power appliances can run together.
Nominal capacity is also not usable AC energy. Reserve settings, conversion losses and battery protection reduce deliverable energy. Runtime planning should start with measured household watt-hours and required circuits.
Topology changes resilience and installation
Multiple main units may distribute power and create different failure domains, but only if the approved architecture supports the intended parallel arrangement. A single AC Core with five expansions is a different electrical design even though nominal energy matches the Trio.
These AC-coupled systems are described for adding storage to an existing photovoltaic installation. Compatibility requires assessment of the existing inverter, meter, phases, protection devices and grid-registration rules. The reviewed sets contain no solar modules.
All selected pages state that sale/delivery to Austria is currently unavailable. German buyers still need to confirm delivery access, installer responsibilities and commissioning.
Which configuration?
AC Core Duo is the lower 20,096Wh configuration. AC Core Trio is the distributed 30,144Wh option with three mains. AC CORE + 5 × B500 is the one-main, five-expansion 30kWh-class system and states 2,400 W output. Choose only after a load and topology design, not by kWh alone.
Prices and savings claims are omitted because tariffs, usable capacity and installation costs determine economics.
