A Moses Basket Built From Nature, Not Synthetic Shortcuts

Many Moses baskets rely on maize or synthetic weaves for cost efficiency, which can compromise both durability and the natural material feel parents often specifically seek for a newborn's first sleep space. The Little Green Sheep's Organic Leaves Quilt Moses Basket & Mattress is built specifically around genuine natural palm leaf construction, paired with a dedicated organic mattress.

Handwoven palm leaf for genuine durability

The basket is handwoven from natural palm leaf rather than maize or synthetic alternatives — a material specifically noted for being tougher and more durable, while remaining naturally lightweight enough to carry easily around the home.

A botanical leaves print with genuine aesthetic consideration

The Leaves Quilt liner features a botanical leaves print on soft linen canvas — a deliberately considered design choice that brings a calm, nature-inspired aesthetic rather than a purely functional, undecorated liner.

The only Moses basket to include this specific signature mattress

Rather than treating the mattress as a generic accessory, The Little Green Sheep specifically positions its included mattress (worth £59.95-£65 depending on bundle) as a signature feature unique to its baskets — crafted with firm newborn support using genuinely natural materials rather than synthetic foam.

A carefully specified natural mattress composition

The mattress uses a 100% natural cotton herringbone cover, wool quilting, and coconut coir filling — each material chosen specifically for its natural properties, including coconut coir's firm, supportive structure particularly suited to newborn sleep safety guidance around firm sleep surfaces.

Genuine handle strength testing for safety confidence

Every Moses basket undergoes rigorous handle strength testing — a specific safety verification step that matters directly for parents needing to lift and carry a basket with a sleeping baby inside.

Breathable organic cotton liner options

The quilted organic cotton liner is specifically designed to allow air to circulate while keeping a baby cosy and snug — a balance that matters for newborn sleep safety and comfort, rather than a liner that traps heat excessively.

Meeting genuine, current UK/European safety standards

The basket meets BS EN 1466:2023, while the mattress meets BS 18700:2023 and BS 7177:2008+A1:2011 — concrete, verifiable regulatory standards rather than vague "safety tested" marketing claims.

Machine-washable liner for genuinely practical upkeep

The liner can be machine washed at 30°C, while the basket and mattress themselves are sponge-cleaned and air-dried — a practical care routine suited to the inevitable mess that comes with newborn care.

Who it suits

This Moses basket suits parents wanting a genuinely natural, chemical-free sleep space for a newborn, with a cohesive botanical aesthetic and a purpose-built mattress designed specifically for infant safety and comfort. A separate Moses basket stand and a waterproof mattress protector are both strongly recommended additional purchases, and as with any infant sleep product, parents should always follow current safe sleep guidance and never carry or move the basket while a baby is inside it.
